Additional information: The reason I want to do this is because the joystick is beaten up from a lot of usage and now it suffers from “ghosting” which basically means it moves slightly and it can easily screw things up while in-game.

As a quick fix solution to my problem I setup some dead zones within steam for my xbox controller and though this guide might help 1 or 2 people in future. The purpose of this guide is to stop random input from the thumbstick axis and allow triggers to be mapped instead of thumbsticks that are providing constant input when they are not in use.
